Security
SCBOS is an official site of South Carolina Sate Government. When you access your account and perform transactions using SCBOS, 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technology is used—the most widely used method of securing internet transactions available today.
Ways you are protected
128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technology: To access you SCBOS accounts, you must use a browser that supports 128 bit encryption – among the strongest methods available for commercial use.
Online User ID and Password: Your sign-on credentials are exclusively for accessing you account online – don’t share them with anyone. SCBOS will ask you to change your password periodically (currently once a year) but you may change your password more frequently. Customer Assistance personnel do not have access to your password.
Firewalls: The SCBOS servers that run the SCBOS site are protected by firewalls -- systems that prevent unauthorized access to our network and which are monitored to prevent security breaches.
Timeouts: Your SCBOS session will automatically end or “time out” if you don’t send information to the SCBOS servers for 20 minutes. To return to where you left off, you’ll have to re-enter you User Name and Password.
